500kV Chon Thanh substation

With continuous efforts and especially overcoming 02 Covid waves in 2020, the 500kV Chon Thanh substation is completed at 6:55 am on September 2, 2020 after nearly 13 months of construction.

Designed by PECC3 with Design Manager – Mr. Truong Quoc Thai – PECC3 – Central Branch, the project has been, and will bring many following positive impacts:

Strengthening electricity supply to meet the load demand for development in Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong and neighboring provinces;

Strengthening linkage, improving stability and reliability of transmission grid in the Southeast region;

Reducing power loss, offloading some existing 220kV transmission lines and transformers in the area.

The 500kV Chon Thanh substation and connection lines are located in Chon Thanh district, Binh Phuoc province. In which, the 500kV substation and connection line is located in Hamlet 2, Minh Thanh commune and 220kV connection line is located in Minh Thanh and Nha Bich communes.

With a speed of rapid development of industrial sector and population in the Southeast region in general and Binh Phuoc in particular, strengthening transmission and reducing waste will be one of grounds to bring higher life quality, reduce the impact on sustainable environment and solve problems that directly affect the lives of people and industrial parks. This is also a great driving force that motivates the staffs of PECC3 – Central Branch and PECC3 to always try their best in each project.

This is an urgent key project with a total area of up to 18.5 hectares. Where:

The substation items include:

  • Installation of 500/220/35kV – 900MVA transformer and 220/110/22kV – 250MVA transformer;
  • For 500kV transmission line: implementing 3/2 diagram, with the scale of 8 modules; This phase installs the equipment for 4 modules (11 circuit breaker compartments) to connect 6 line bays and 1 transformer bay;
  • For  220kV transmission line: implementing double busbar with a ring bar diagram, with the scale of 18 compartments; this stage installs equipment for 10 compartments;
  • For  110kV transmission line: implementing double busbar with a ring bar diagram, with the scale of 14 compartments; this stage installs equipment for 8 compartments;
  • For 35kV, 22kV transmission lines: arranged under the power supply block diagram for plant.
  • Transferring 500kV compensation equipment of 500kV Pleiku – My Phuoc – Cau Bong transmission line from Cau Bong 500kV substation to install at 500kV Chon Thanh substation.

The connection line items include:

  • Constructing two new  500 kV double-circuit transmission lines with a total length of about 0.14 km connecting forward to the two existing Pleiku – My Phuoc – Cau Bong 500kV transmission lines;
  • Constructing new 220kV transmission line with 4 circuits and 2 circuits on 1 column row with a total length of about 8.6 km connecting forward to circuits of the existing 220kV My Phuoc – Binh Long transmission line.
