On the morning of August 22, 2026, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, led by Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc conducted a site survey and inspection of projects in the area formerly part of Ba Ria – Vung Tau, now is Long Son commune, HCMC. Long Son LNG Power Plant Project, is a key project of the HCMC, playing an important role in enhancing power supply for the Southern power grid and the national power system under the approved power development plan. The Project received investment policy approval under Decision No. 1702/QD-UBND dated March 24, 2026. According to the approval decision, Long Son LNG Power Plant Project has a design capacity of approximately 1,500 MW. The plant will utilize imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) and combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) technology to optimize operational efficiency and satisfy current environmental standards. Covering an area of approximately 42.56 ha located outside the Long Son Petrochemical Industrial Zone (Long Son Commune, HCMC), the project is expected to achieve COD in 2031.

Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 3 (PECC3), acts as the main consultant for the Project from the Planning amendment phase through to the investment proposal stage, presented detailed project information to City leaders and the delegation.
